Lashings Cricket Match, The Olympic Torch and Kevin Pietersen all in one week for Woodhall Spa Cricket Club!
Crowders Sponsors the Lashings Cricket Match at Woodhall Spa!
W Crowder and Sons are proud sponsors of the Woodhall Spa Cricket Club any day of the week, but with all the happenings over the last few weeks, we feel the need to tell our avid readers…!
It’s all been a bit exciting just lately though…… what with the Lashings International Cricket team match on Monday 23rdJuly, the Olympic Torch making a star appearance, and world renowned England cricketer Kevin Pietersen opening the new nets all in the space of a week- Woodhall Spa Cricket Club has really become the place to be!
The Lashings match saw crowds from far and wide flock to the grounds, all helping to raise money for the club, and its continuing development. The Olympic Torch and Crowders’ photographer were there too, taking photographs of avid fans wanting their hold on a piece of history in the making (and helping to raise money for the new nets!)
Sadly, the Lashings team were the winners of the match on 23rd July, although Woodhall Spa CC certainly gave them a lot to run for! Over 1,000 people turned up to watch the tremendous match, and the perfect weather made it an even better day all round. Team captain Jack Luffman said “it was a brilliant day and for once, we didn’t mind losing!”
Raising the profile of the club even further came on Friday 27th July, when world renowned England cricketer Kevin Pietersen MBE dropped by to open the new nets! Our lucky nursery sales manager Tom Owen even managed a photo with the star, who wished all the very best for the local club’s future.
The three times Ashes winner, T20 World Cup winner, 2006 Wisden Cricketer of the Year, has 87 Test matches and 127 One Day Internationals with 36 T20’s appearances under his belt but took time out to cut the ribbon and officially open the new three bay facility in Woodhall Spa. Shortly after his appearance at, KP shot off down to the Olympic Park for the opening ceremony- ahh the excitement!
What a great week it’s been for WSCC!
