The origin of Christmas lights…

The history and origin of Christmas lights is truly a fascinating one, it has been told that the first ever Christmas tree to be decorated with a light bulb dated back to the 19th century. Besides being very costly, since there were no retail stores at the time, these lights were not so easy to set-up. You had to be an electrician or hire one to decorate a Christmas tree with lights, for all these complications you can already assume that not many people had their threes decorated with flashy lights.

However it didn’t take long for threaded lamps to appear on retail sale, in the start of 20th century they were already affordable by the middle class. Soon coloured lamps were available as well, the first ones were just lamps dipped in lacquer colour like blue, green and red. Eventually coloured glass lamps were imported from Japan which included a larger variety of colours, these concepts were soon applied to all European manufacturers as well.

Christmas lights in the world today…

Christmas lights in today’s world have been available for years, the latest LED technology offers huge advantages over any other form of tree lights.

Key factors for LED lighting:

Safe to use

Cheap to buy

Multi coloured

Colour patterns

Energy saving.

LED Christmas lighting safety advantages…

As soon as you see LED lights in action you notice the safety benefits compared to traditional candles or bulbs. To produce light, candles have a flame which has to be secured and the necessary safety precautions put in place. There have always been reports of these accidents happening around Christmas times. LED lights are not capable of producing that much heat and you can safely leave the lights on without worry of a fire.

The down side of traditional bulbs is that is that they are very fragile and if you aren’t careful it’s easy to injury yourself as glass is very sharp. Also the fact that the inside of a bulk is under vacuum it certainly doesn’t take a lot of pressure to break.

LED Christmas lights are usually made out of solid plastic material and cannot be broken easily; even if you manage somehow to break them they don’t pose any danger.

Cheapest lighting available…

After reading all the benefits above you might be thinking that LED is something expensive but the real beauty of this technology lies in the price and 3 times more hours of light compared to incandescent bulbs.

So the initial investment will pay for itself, compared to traditional light bulbs LED technology is extremely efficient for the amount of light it can produce, it is almost 6 times more for the same energy.

Multiple colour options and patterns…

One of the greatest benefits of this technology is the variety of colours and combinations. RGB LED lights have the possibility of shifting colours depending on our setting. This is something that was impossible with traditional lights since they could only blink in different patterns and uses only 1 colour. As far as flashing patterns,  LED has the advantage since it warms up and cools off much faster than traditional lights.
