Prunus Spinosa or more commonly known as Blackthorn is a a bushy, spiny shrub or tree with deep green leaves. It carries pretty bowl-shaped white flowers before the leaves from April to May followed by black fruits in June.

Prunus Spinosa is one of the more popular plants for hedges for a number of reasons. It grows to become a dense hedge, providing a good barrier and screen. It likes most soil types as long as the soil is moist and well drained and prefers full sun. It is also okay in coastal areas or exposed windy conditions.
