Crataegus Monogynaalso known as Hawthorn is a rounded thorny, deciduous plant with glossy dark green leaves. From April to May it has Clusters of fragrant white flowers, followed by glossy red fruit in June.
Will this Hedging Plant be Suitable?
Crataegus Monogynais a popular plant to use for hedging. It is pretty happy in most soil types even wet soil and can grow in coastal areas where there will be strong winds. It can grow in full sun or partial shade and should also be able to withstand frost pockets during winter. It is ideal for any sized hedge as either a barrier, border or for screening and is good if you are looking to attract wildlife.

How Many Hedging Plants will I need?
Here at Crowders we suggest each plant should be 12-18 inches/30-45cm apart in a single row which works out at 3 per meter. If you require a thicker hedge you would require 5 plants per meter which you would plant staggered, 12-18 inches/30-45cm apart.
