Hippophae Rhamnoides or Sea Buckthorn is a bushy, deciduous shrub with spiny stems and narrow, grey-green scaly leaves. From April to May it has inconspicuous yellow-green flowers followed by round orange fruit on female plants in June. Hippophae Rhamnoides is very invasive if planted on or near sand dunes, so it should not be planted near such areas. It likes well drained soil that will grow in both chalky and sandy soil, but prefers full sun. It can withstand coastal areas and is known for attracting wildlife.
