Lavandula angustifolia Munstead is a compact variety of Lavender which was named after the horticulturalist Gertrude Jekyll?s garden, at Munstead Wood. Dense spikes of purple flowers develop above aromatic leaves of grey-green. Lavender is excellent as a low hedge or path edging where the perfume can be released as people brush past. Lavandula angustifolia Munstead has the sweetest fragrance of all the lavenders and is the one most commonly used in cooking. It has a sweet, floral flavour, with lemon and citrus notes.
